Weekly Scripture: Jan. 29/09 by 1nv35t3df41th

hello all,

sorry for the late post.

recently i have been studying two books from the bible. the first book that i am studying is matthew…(i did it without knowing that MSN was studying it on fri). the second book is timothy, because if i am going to call my son timothy, i should at least know a little bit about why i am giving him this name.

the scripture that i would liketo post is from…

1 timothy 4:12

“don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity”.

i think when God calls us it can be at any age and being humble is accepting His calling…God knows the right timing and although paul also warns us that being called to do God’s work to early is dangerous (1 timothy 3:6) as we know the timing is His and not our own….

like david or like abraham all is in His hands…

do you think that you have been called. if you are comfortable please share how you think he is calling you. have you accepted His call. Do you think he ever called you when you were younger but you refused or thought that you were not ready. you do not have to reply to all these questions and you can just comment however you want…i just wanted to give you guys some questions if you wanted to answer.

hope to hear from you guys soon.

in love…your brother….daeshin

ps: i dont believe in capitals..unless it is for God…can’t write His name in small letters.

pps: thanks for the announcements jen

Reminders for this week

umm..i know that we are awaiting daeshin’s scripture post, but for whoever is a member already (from those in our cell group), i’m just posting a reminder for you for this week!!!

1. at every chance you get this week, please try to reflect on last Sunday’s message on prayer (“why pray?” Luke 11:1-4). what i liked about the sermon (or the parts i can remember) was the ‘give us this day our daily bread’- how God provides us with the right amount of what we need…not too much and not too little. another part of the sermon that i took in was how we pray for His will (not our own will) to be done in our lives. and the last thing was how He is our strength and He will take your burdens away if you just let Him (not really what the sermon was about..but that’s what i think about when i think about prayer).

2. please pray for our members, especially for those in our cell group. those who are dealing with personal issues (ie. school, life, physical and spiritual health, family, school, school…i’m thinking all of us when i think about school..that’s why i wrote it so many times ^^); those who are leaving us to go back home (miyuki, sang il, and jaeyoung); and those who are M.I.A from church; and all of our leaders and members of our EM

3.   this saturday january 31 is joseph and juyeon’s BABY SHOWER!! it’s at 6:30pm and it’s potluck! it is going to be held in the party room on the 3rd floor at 35 Charles St. West. (call me if you need directions or have any questions)

4. have an awesome and stress free week!!!!!!

Obama’s Inauguration by jennynotjen

Today, instead of lecturing us, my professor decided to stream the live coverage of the inauguration ceremony on CNN.  I was really moved – not only by the monumental nature of this historical occasion, but also by Obama’s speech, and Rick Warren’s prayer.

Rick Warren is the pastor of Saddleback Church (in LA, I think), and has recently come under a lot of criticism during the Proposition 8 debates.  He recently recanted his comments and explained his position on gay marriage a little more clearly.  Obviously, as a Christian, trying to explain your personal opinions will always come under fire from our secular society.

But I really think his prayer encapsulates what the USA should look to for guidance – God’s strength, wisdom, forgiveness, and blessing to make the best decisions for their people, and ultimately, for the global community.  At the end of his prayer, he recited the Lord’s Prayer, and I really liked that, because it shows that we need to follow how God taught us how to pray – not our own will, but His will be done.

What are your thoughts?

Hello everyone!  Welcome to cell group 1’s own blog!  Everyone will have access to the blog, in order to post, revise, comment, or to simply read.  I hope that you will all participate.

Thanks to Nathaniel for the idea of starting a group blog, and the suggestion that we each take a turn posting a scripture weekly that we can all meditate on.

This week, I wanted to share a video with you all that really reflects the theme of our retreat, “Step Up”.  Although not all of us were there, I think that this video has something to tell us all.  It’s about how God truly uses us, weaknesses and all, and wants our imperfect selves to be committed to Him and His work.

Have a great week everyone!

PS. If you don’t like the setup of the blog, please comment and I will consider changing it.  But I think that the grass is pretty.
